How Often Do You Change The Bulbs In Each Bed?
Don't let our retro vibe and our classic look fool you. Our Sunbeds may not have the high-gloss appearance of some other salon's fancy equipment, but be assured that our exceptional bulbs are state-of-the-art! We follow the manufacturer's guidelines for bulb replacement so that you will achieve the best results from your sessions. We typically change our bulbs at 75% capacity so your tan doesn't suffer from weaker UV rays. We want to make sure you always get the best results at the best price.
(There's a Ferarri motor under the hood! Exceptional UV bulb maintenance is our niche. )
Why Are Salon Lotions Necessary?
Get guaranteed quality results from a salon tanning lotion formulated to help your skin absorb the UV rays which will accelerate the indoor tanning process. The tanning process can deplete your skin of its much-needed moisture. Salon lotions moisturize deeply and are guaranteed to accelerate production of melanin so that your skin tans more quickly, gets darker and your tan lasts longer. Our trained salon operators will help you find the best fit for your skin type from a variety of premium products. Indoor lotions have specially designed ingredients for indoor tanning to deliver vitamins, botanical oils and bronzers to revitalize the skin and encourage your skins natural melanin production. Be wary of online lotions that are frequently found to be fakes or knock offs.
How Do I Keep My Tan Longer?
Dry skin sheds dead skin cells more quickly so it is important to tan extending moisturizer twice a day. If you go tanning early in the day, apply moisturizer after your tanning session and again before bed. If you go tanning late in the day, use moisturizer once in the morning and again after your tanning session.
Do I Need to Wear Safety Goggles?
Yes. Eye protection is essential for safety so use goggles or Wink Ease every time you tan in an indoor sunbed. We recommend cleaning your personal eye wear after each session and storing them in a case or cloth bag. Just like a toothbrush, replace every 3-6 months or if lenses become scratched.
Birthday Suit or Bathing Suit?
Many people go to a tanning salon to get an all over tan since a bathing suit is not necessary. When you tan “Au natural”, use a towel to cover your sensitive areas to avoid overexposure. If you have to cover your sensitive areas, you cannot stand up in a booth. It is necessary to use a tanning bed if you need to cover up.
How Do I Get More Even Colour?
It's so perfectly relaxing and easy to fall asleep in a sunbed. But once in a while, in order to prevent creases or pressure tan lines, it is important to gently change positions during your session. One common place for crease tan lines is the crease where your buttocks and the top of your leg meet. Depending on your weight, under the breasts and shoulder blades are also common places for crease or pressure tan lines.
Can I Wear Makeup, Deodorant, or Perfume When Tanning?
If at all possible, avoid wearing certain products to your tanning session. Perfumes and makeup can contain ingredients which cause skin sensitivity. If they do, you can end up with a rash or a burn. If you wear deodorant during your session, you may have a problem tanning under your arms. If you notice that you are not as dark on your armpits, you should wipe off the deodorant before you begin tanning.
Do I Have to Sign A Contract?
Nope. Nada. Never. No contracts, no monthly fees, no cancellation fees. At Island Sunset Tan, you receive dramatic savings because you are free from contracts, monthly fees & cancellation fees. We offer Sessions Packages with dramatically reduced fees, Minutes Packages in our Level 1 to Five Sunbeds and Stand UP, Unlimited Month packages and Infrared Sauna Packages with no-strings-attached.
What Should I Wear While In The Sunbeds?
Since each tanning bed is in a private room, you can wear (or not wear) whatever you are most comfortable in. Please remember to remove any sharp jewellery and ensure sunbathing apparel, if you chose to wear it, is free of embellishments that could scratch the acrylic. Also, do not use oils of any kind as these can cause severe damage, ie: spiderweb cracks in acrylic surfaces.
Do I Need an Appointment?
Appointments are not usually required at Island Sunset Tan unless you are booking the Ultraviolet Sauna and want to be sure it's heated up or the Stand Up unit from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm. Drop ins are highly encouraged. Since we have more beds than the average tanning salon, you should be able to get a bed whenever you want with minimal or no waiting time.
How Do I Know the Beds are Clean?
We use FDA-approved, Hospital grade cleaning solutions on all surfaces touched after every customer's tanning session. Our certified, caring staff follow industry guidelines for sanitizing sunbeds, customer rooms as well as eye protection in keeping with the highest standards to ensure proper sanitizing properties exist.
